The United Kingdom
Country: The United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Capital: London is the capital o f the UK but also the capital o f England. Cardiff is the capital o f Wales, Edinburgh is the capital o f Scotland and Belfast is the capital o f Northern Ireland.
Flag: The Union Jack includes the flags o f England and Scotland as well as the old flag o f Ireland. Each country has its own flag as well as the Union Jack.
Population: over 67 million
Currency: British Pound £
b) Explain the words in bold. Then look at the map and say where Swansea, Portsmouth, Newcastle and Aberdeen are.
