* **Regular:** *lived, worked, stayed, opened, closed, moved.*
* **Irregular / verb 'to be':** *was, were, had, became.*
**b) Spelling rules for adding *-ed*:**
1. К большинству глаголов просто добавляется окончание **-ed**: *look $\rightarrow$ looked, work $\rightarrow$ worked*.
2. Если глагол оканчивается на **-e**, добавляется только **-d**: *live $\rightarrow$ lived, move $\rightarrow$ moved*.
3. Если глагол оканчивается на согласную + **-y**, буква **y** меняется на **i** + **-ed**: *carry $\rightarrow$ carried, try $\rightarrow$ tried*.

1. **Past Simple (Прошедшее простое время):**
* Используется для описания действий, которые завершились в определенный момент в прошлом.
* Спутники времени (time adverbials): *yesterday* (вчера), *last week/month/year* (на прошлой неделе/в прошлом месяце/в прошлом году), *... ago* (... назад), *in 2010* (в 2010 году).
2. **Правила чтения окончания *-ed* (Ex. 6a):**
* **/ɪd/** — после звуков **/t/** и **/d/** (*want $\rightarrow$ wanted* [ˈwɒntɪd], *visit $\rightarrow$ visited* [ˈvɪzɪtɪd]).
* **/t/** — после глухих согласных звуков (/k/, /p/, /s/, /ʃ/, /tʃ/, /f/): *work $\rightarrow$ worked* [wɜːkt], *wash $\rightarrow$ washed* [wɒʃt].
* **/d/** — после звонких согласных звуков и всех гласных: *open $\rightarrow$ opened* [ˈəʊpənd], *play $\rightarrow$ played* [pleɪd].
3. **Разделительные вопросы (Question Tags в Ex. 8):**
* Если первая часть предложения утвердительная в Past Simple (*People worked...*), то «хвостик» будет отрицательным с вспомогательным глаголом *did*: *..., didn't they?*
