### Exercise 9 a
**Ответ:**
* **Has he included all the necessary information?**
**Yes**, Matt has included all the necessary points: he suggested whom to invite (school and football friends), gave his opinion about a theme party and entertainment (hiring a DJ), and asked about the date, time, and food preparations.
* **Is the letter written in an appropriate style? Why / Why not?**
**No**, the style is inappropriate. Matt is writing to an adult (his friend Steve's mother, Mrs Jacobs / Pat). His tone is far too informal and conversational. He uses slang and very informal expressions (*"cool idea"*, *"help you out"*, *"kids"*, *"go nuts"*, *"want a hand with"*) and ends with *"Lots of love"*, which is unsuitable when addressing an adult acquaintance. A **semi-formal** style is required.

### Exercise 9 b
**Переписанное письмо в полувежливом / полуформальном стиле (Semi-formal style):**
> Dear Mrs Jacobs,
>
> Thank you for your letter. It is a wonderful idea to organize a surprise party for Steve, and I would be delighted to help you.
>
> As for the guests, I think you should invite Steve's classmates as well as his friends from the football team. I can send you their email addresses if you would like. Regarding the theme, I feel that a theme party might not be suitable as everyone is a bit too old for that. Instead, hiring a DJ for music would be great entertainment, and I am sure Steve would really enjoy it.
>
> I also have a few questions. Will the party be on Steve's birthday on Thursday, or are you planning it for the weekend? What time is it going to start? Please let me know if you need any assistance with preparing the food.
>
> Best regards,
> Matt

### Exercise 11
*Примеры писем для обеих тем (100–140 слов в соответствии с планом):*
#### Вариант A (Informal letter to Arthur):
> Dear Arthur,
>
> Thanks a lot for your letter. It was great to hear from you!
>
> Peer pressure is definitely a serious issue. To be honest, I rarely feel pressured because I try to stick to my own values. In my opinion, teenagers pressure others because they want to fit in, look cool, or hide their own insecurities. The best way to deal with this problem is to learn to say a firm "no" and surround yourself with true friends who respect your choices.
>
> A camping trip sounds fantastic! Where are you going camping? Are you planning to sleep in tents? What fun activities do you have planned?
>
> I have to go now. Write back soon!
>
> Best wishes,
> Ivan
*(117 words)*

#### Вариант B (Semi-formal letter to Mrs Thomas):
> Dear Mrs Thomas,
>
> It was wonderful to receive your letter and hear your news. Congratulations on your new position!
>
> Regarding your questions, I would definitely consider consulting a school counsellor if I faced a serious difficulty. In general, I prefer seeking advice from older people because of their life experience, although I also share daily worries with close friends. Nowadays, many teenagers try to deal with problems by talking to peers or searching online, though some still bottle up their emotions.
>
> I would love to know more about your new job. How many students do you counsel daily? Is your new school far from your home? What do you enjoy most about this role?
>
> Best regards,
> Ivan Ivanov
